So I decided to upgrade my 2nd rig to Windows 10 and I've been getting an issue where after some time (maybe 30 minutes or 3 hours) my screen will just go black as if I unplugged the dvi cable from my GPU( 750ti). The pc is still on, fans still running etc but no sound or display. Only thing to do is to hard reset the pc. I know the cpu (Core 2 quad q6600 @ 2.4ghz) and Systemax Nvidia nForce 680i LT SLT mobo are outdated but ive tested everything and it isnt a hardware problem.
Temps are good, and everything ran perfectly on Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. Could updating the bios (still has update from 2006/7) maybe help with this? Or do i just go back to win 7?
Hey, I just wanted to ask if my motherboard (nForce 680i SLI 775 AR Version) has the option to setup AHCI on my SATA drives. I've looked and looked and couldn't find anything in the mobo manual and didn't seem to find anything when under 'Integrated Peripherals' in BIOS, which is where most other drive options were like RAID and what-not. I made sure to have my board updated to the latest BIOS updates (P33) too.
I also didn't see an option to change it to 'Legacy' as well. I thought maybe I had to enable/change an option to Legacy in order to have AHCI available to enable. I thought I read that somewhere when looking for help on this. Aren't Legacy and AHCI two different drive settings? Well, for me. I can't find either of them in here.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
Motherboard: nForce 680i SLI 775 AR Version Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 @ 2.13 GHz Overclocked to 2.3 (lol).noob. Memory: Kingston Hyperx DDR2 1066 (2 x 1GB) since my G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1000 won't work with both sticks in at the same time. But that's a whole other issue I'll ask later. Graphics Card: XFX 5770 XXX Edition 1GB 128-bit DDR5 Operating System(s): Windows 7 / Mac OSX Snow Leopard. Xtrem There doesn't seem to be support for AHCI. Going through the manual, there is no mention of AHCI; perhaps it's an older board. Only found the RAID menu.
Thanks for double checking. It sucks that my board doesn't have it. Is it possible that there is some type of 3rd party update that might add this option?
I guess that would be pretty difficult to get being that I would probably have to get whatever add on it is for my exact motherboard right? Or maybe it could be done as a driver update/add on instead of a flash? I'll look around tomorrow and get back with an update. Just got home from working grave shift, so off to bed. Thanks again for the quick replies. ImmortalicBrad Xtrem There doesn't seem to be support for AHCI.

Thanks again for the quick replies. Ther is no option for adding AHCI to a nforce 6 or 7 series board, the SPP/MCP do not support it.
Any reason you want this? Quadlatte there is no option for adding AHCI to a nforce 6 or 7 series board, the SPP/MCP do not support it. Any reason you want this? The reason is so I can dual boot Windows 7 and Mac OSX Snow Leopard. I installed Snow Leopard on one of my externals on a computer at work and was playing around with it. I couldn't even boot the Mac Installer DVD on my PC and I could at work.

Just wanted to play around with the OS since I never really got a chance to use Macs before that's all. Thanks you guys for all your answers. I was planning on building a new PC soon anyway. Guess I'll have to wait to use Snow Leopard until then.
